In the Douro Valley, where the winters are cold and the summers are hot, there are great variations in temperature between day and night, the sun abounds and the rain is scarce. Conditions that are excellent for the cultivation of the vine.
The river basin, where our vines grow, is the product of thousands of years of erosion, alluvium, sedimentation and changes in the composition of the soil. This has given rise to a terroir of great diversity where the texture varies, the proportion of minerals and water that absorbs or retains each plot of the farm.
Our philosophy of work lies in the vinification by payments. The soil of each of our 54 plots has a different composition: clays on the riverbank, pebbles and sands along the slope, gravel in the lower layers, limestone on the heights ... Therefore, each payment receives a unique variety of carefully selected grapes to extract the best of the earth.
