z Dos Hemisferios

San Miguel Del Morro is a small town where you can enjoy days of light, cold nights and the sea breeze. Located 15 minutes from General Villamil, Playas (Province of the Guayas), there in its limestone soil we achieve the unimaginable: to raise a vineyard in which the grapes are harvested to produce Ecuadorian wine of excellent quality. Thanks to the particular climate of the area and proximity to the Canal de CEDEGE, we challenged the bad omens of experts who said that a country, located in the middle of the world, did not have the conditions to harvest wine grapes, as this supposedly only Achieved in other latitudes of the planet with 4 seasons climatic.
In 1999 our company Figalsa acquired 360 hectares in San Miguel Del Morro. At the beginning, we planted table grape varieties (Italy, Cardinal and Rivera), and encouraged by the excellent results, in 2004 we bet on the idea of harvesting grapes for wine. We spare no effort in pursuing this dream. We import the best clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, PinotNoir, Shiraz and Chardonnay, and with the experience of one of the best winemakers in Mendoza (Argentine city of famous winemaking tradition), Abel Furlan, we obtained the first high quality Ecuadorian wine : Paradox 2006 (mixture of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec). We baptized it because making wines in our country was that: a paradox. In 2008 it went on sale with a production of just 1200 bottles that were marketed between friends and acquaintances who were ecstatic by the aroma, flavor and color of this wine. Some of them still jealously keep the bottles of this first wine. Currently, we have 5 brands of wines and we produce 50 thousand bottles a year, marketed nationally.
After Paradoja, Bruma 2007 was born (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, PinotNoir and Syrah, currently ensemble of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and Enigma 2008 (Chardonnay), whose name alludes to the unknown about how the grapes would be sown to This wine white. It would continue Del Morro 2008 (Cabernet Sauvignon), named after the lands and their people where it was possible to grow the grapes that gave life to these unique wines of its kind.
In October 2011, the market received our fifth wine: Travesía 2009 (Cabernet Sauvignon). It was baptized thus in reference to the way traveled during almost a decade to obtain these five wines, grouped with the trade mark Dos Hemisferios, name that also has a why. He responds that the lands of our vineyard, fertile paradise for any farmer, are in Ecuador, the country where the two hemispheres of the planet merge.
The wines of Dos Hemisferios have been awarded in and out of our country, recognitions that are the first great step to project Ecuador internationally as a country of wine production.
