The Alodia winery
Bodegas Alodia was born in 2005 as the personal project of its winemaker, Sergio Labata. Sergio trained first as an agricultural engineer and later as a winemaker. After working at various Somontano wineries and a brief stint at HopeState Wines, an Australian winery in New South Wales, he started his own winery. Since its inception, Bodegas Alodia has stood out among the wineries of the denomination for making it unique in the world, using innovative techniques such as wines without added sulphites or sparkling wines (champenoise method) and betting on the three unique Somontano varieties: Alcañón, Parraleta and Moristel.

The vineyards of the Somontano Designation of Origin have three different areas: the mountains, the Somontano and the plains. Its total extension is 200,000 hectares of surface of which about 100,000 are cultivated. Of the latter, 4,400 hectares are dedicated exclusively to the vineyard.
Somontano wines have grape varieties from more than 4,400 hectares of plantations. They are the base from which its good Somontano wines are born: Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah, Garnacha Tinta, Moristel, Parraleta, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc, Garnacha Blanca, Riesling or Alcañón are some of them. .
Somontano is characterized by having cold winters and hot summers with important temperature changes at the end of spring and autumn. The average annual temperature is 11 degrees Celsius.
