La Petite Agnès, an elegant interpretation of the Priorat.
Special features of the wine:
Elaboration La Petite Agnes
It is made in equal parts with Garnacha and Cariñena.
What kind of wine is La Petite Agnes
Red wine with four months of aging in French oak barrels of first and second year.
The winery Viñedos de Cal Grau
Winery integrated in the Iberian Wine Company, belonging to the Osborne family.
Located in the heart of the Priorat region, between the terms of the Molar and the Lloar, is the winery on the farm of La Solana. Surrounded by the vineyards that provide us with the grapes with which we make our wines.
Our philosophy is to produce wines that are the true reflection of the Priorat, characterized by the slate soils, locally called "llicorella", and by its adverse weather, with cold winters, and some summers with very high temperatures, providing wines that are a faithful reflection of the surroundings of the region.
We have opted to maintain the balance of the area, conserving its forests and ancient olive trees that are integrated into the vineyard and the winery.
Denomination of origin La Petite Agnes
El Priorat is a Spanish Denomination of Origin, based in Tarragona.
The vineyards are located in slate lands, and the contribution of the Mediterranean climate, give their wines a quality that makes it classified as "qualified".
A qualified DO guarantees the origin of the product in its entirety, through the traceability system.
The fidelity of a wine and a flavor to its land, is one of the main characteristics of this DO.
It has 92 wineries and 1,888 hectares of vineyards.
Variety of grapes used in La Petite Agnes
Made with 50% Garnacha and Cariñena grapes. The beginning of the cultivation of the vine and in particular of the Garnacha, dates back to the year 1145 and is attributed to the Cistercian monks of the Monastery of Veruela, located a short distance from Fuendejalón and Magallón.
The Cariñena grape, is originally from Cariñena (Aragón) from where it passed to Sardinia.
For many years it has been the vine most planted and produced in France, arriving in 1988 to occupy an area of ??167,000 hectares. Subsequently the EU began a policy of withdrawal of this vine through the policy of subsidies.
The Cariñena vine is characterized by high capacity to produce high yields, and by being a vine that can develop vertically.
