Elaboration of Valbuena 5th Year

Temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeast. The malolactic fermentation is also done in stainless steel.

After its fermentation, it passes through a five-year aging between wood and bottle, hence the name of the Valbuena 5º wine. French and American wood, new and used 225 liter barrels, 20,000 liter tubs.

The Vega Sicilia winery

When Winery founded in 1864.
Vega Sicilia became part of the life of the Álvarez family in 1982 they laid the foundations for the creation of TEMPOS Vega Sicilia. Since then and until now there has been a solid and firm growth, the incorporation of wines made in different wine areas, the approach of new consumers worldwide.

Designation of Origin Valbuena 5th Year

Ribera del Duero, a denomination located in Castilla y León, along the Duero river. It occupies the provinces of Valladolid, Burgos, Segovia and Soria.

Variety of grapes used in Valbuena 5th Year wine

Variety: Country Ink and Merlot
The vines are grown in plots with soils located in the contact between slopes that descend from the moor and the alluvial plain. The most superficial soil is formed by fine hillside colluviums with small limestone fragments, in depth abundant quartzite gravels appear in a sandy matrix. The angular corners of limestone abound on the surface.
