Wine characteristics
Totally destemmed grapes, followed by slow fermentation with temperature control up to 28 ºC. smooth filtration. Aged for 4 years in French oak barrels and balseiros in which it received a slow and controlled oxidation that is typical of tawnies.
Due to its balance of youth and oak aging, it is a versatile wine, delighting a wide range of tasters.
Quevedo is part of a new generation of small family wineries based in the Duero. For many years these families grew grapes and made port wine for merchants based in Vila Nova de Gaia.
When Portugal joined the European Union in 1986, the legislation changed to allow both winegrowers and Douro wineries to export their wines directly to the retailer. As a result of this new legislation, the family brand "Quevedo" was born.
