The name of the Huelva County Denomination of Origin was approved on August 1, 1979.
The vineyard in the area covered by the DD.OO. It is spread over flat or slightly undulating terrain. In general, they are neutral or slightly basic soils, loamy and of medium fertility, with areas of unsurpassed quality for growing grapes.
Regarding the climate, the County of Huelva enjoys ideal conditions for growing vines: benign in winter and spring and with long and warm summers of evident Atlantic influence, with an average annual temperature in the region of 18ºC and relative humidity oscillating between 60% and 80%.
Regarding plantation systems, there is a predominance of plantations in the form of low vines with a maximum density of 2,500 vines per hectare.
