Merlot grape wines
Where the Merlot grape wine is made
The Merlot red grape has its origin in the Bordeaux region, where it is the most cultivated variety.
It is normally used in the elaboration of the Medoc, a red Bordeaux wine from the Medoc region. It is also used in certain wines from northern Italy.
In addition, the production of Merlot varietal wine in California has increased. This grape has become an international variety, being the second most requested red variety after the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, and used mainly as a variety of improvement in the racking to provide softness and balance.
