Special characteristics of the wine:
Pago de Carraovejas Reserva Production
Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks and French oak vats managed under the "Haute Futaie" system, using native yeasts and bacteria from the estate, unique and original, to fully express the characteristics of our terroir, respecting the singularity of each vintage. The wine is transferred to barrels using gravity flow. It has aged for 12 months in selected extra-fine grain French oak barrels. Clarified with egg whites and bottled by gravity with a selected natural cork stopper.
What type of wine is Pago de Carraovejas Reserva
A very well-structured red wine that incorporates a small percentage of Merlot grapes in its final blend.
The Pago de Carraovejas Winery
Our winery complex covers over 26,000 m2 and features beautiful plazas adjacent to the building, offering unparalleled views of the valley and Peñafiel Castle from the southwest.
These facilities, constantly being renovated with the primary goal of improvement and to keep pace with the evolution and cutting edge of our times, have been designed and built to respect the natural gravity-flow winemaking processes and the original characteristics of the raw materials.
We also have a new recycling area outside the winery, and in the future, we will be constructing new agricultural buildings next to the vineyard, as well as new social areas where you can learn more about the vineyards and our wines.
Pago de Carraovejas Reserva Designation of Origin
Ribera del Duero, a designation of origin located in Castile and León, along the Duero River. It encompasses the provinces of Valladolid, Burgos, Segovia, and Soria. Grape varieties used in Pago de Carraovejas Reserva h3 wine
Made with Tempranillo (78%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), and Merlot (7%) grapes.
The vineyard is located at an average altitude of 850 m, on a slope perpendicular to the Duero River, which flows through the town from east to west. The terrain is gently rolling, flat in the center of the valley, and steep and abrupt as you ascend.
Three grape varieties are cultivated on our estate: Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, using different training systems: Double Cordon Royat and vertical trellis. Two types of viticulture are adapted to the estate's topography: traditional valley viticulture and mountain viticulture. In some cases, the slopes exceed 20%, while in others, the excessively steep slopes are terraced.
Hand-harvested in 15 kg crates.
