The Losada h3 Winery
The winery is located in the center of the geographical triangle formed by Cacabelos, Villafranca, and Toral de los Vados, allowing optimal access to the area that produces most of the quality grapes of Bierzo. The winery is situated opposite the Castro de la Ventosa, an archaeologically and historically significant site, unique in the Bierzo region. The "winding" wall that defines it is currently undergoing consolidation and has served as an element of inspiration and historical recovery for the design and construction of the winery building. Thus, the building emerges from the land and blends seamlessly with it.
Altos de Losada Designation of Origin
It belongs to the Bierzo DO. The Bierzo region is located in the northwest of the province of León, in northern Spain. It borders the provinces of Ourense, Lugo, and Asturias. It covers an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometers.
It has a system of smallholdings because the properties have been passed down from parents to children through inheritance, and with each transfer, the farms are further subdivided. In this sense, it is very similar to what occurs in Burgundy, for example.
It has a gently rolling topography that allows for differences between the farms with better sun exposure and those with less exposure, and each of them has the potential to produce a different wine.
Average altitude of approximately 650 meters above sea level. Its soil is composed of a mixture of clay, limestone, quartzite, and slate.
