He Borsao winery
The origins date from 1958, the year in which the winery was purchased from a private individual and the Borja Cooperative and the Borsao original brand was founded, in 1981 it was when the first bottles were commercialized and in 1991 the first exports were made.
Some years later, the cooperatives of Pozuelo and Tabuenca joined Borja's, contributing their human resources and most importantly, their vineyards. This union was carried out in 2001 establishing a new company called Bodegas Borsao S.A.
The 700 members of the cooperatives and the management team promoted the foundation of the new winery: beginning to set the guidelines for the care of the vineyards, grape harvest and reception and continuing with a renovation of the winery's facilities. Currently there has been more professionalization and now we are 375 wine growers.
Denomination of Origin of Borsao Joven Seleccion Rosado
Campo de Borja is located northwest of the province of Zaragoza, 60 km from the capital.
It is a transition zone between the mountains of the Iberian System and the Ebro Valley.
It includes the Somontano del Moncayo and extends along the Valle del
Huecha river and the so-called Plains of Plasencia.
Side. Campo de Borja treasures among its authentic jewels wines in which the “Garnacha” variety reaches its full splendor.
In the low zone, with altitudes between 350 and 450 meters, we find limestone brown and “garnachas” soils in traditional formation in glass, as in trellis. It is the earliest ripening area and includes the Magallón, Pozuelo de Aragón vineyards ... Its wines are warm, powerful and very aromatic
The middle zone is characterized by having the highest concentration and density of the vineyard. It includes the vineyards located between 450 and 550 meters of altitude. The soils of the terraces of the river "La Huecha", tributary of the Ebro and all the gravel and clay-ferrous soils are found. There are the vineyards of Ainzón, Borja, Fuendejalón .... on a relief of gentle slopes and good sun exposure. Its wines are very complex, intense, structured and fleshy.
The upper zone of the D.O, whose vineyards extend from 550 to 700 meters of altitude, corresponds to the foothills of the Moncayo. They correspond to the vineyards located in the Altas areas of Ainzón and Fuendejalón, as well as to the municipalities of Tabuenca, El Buste, Vera. Its wines are fine, subtle and elegant.
Grape varieties used in the Borsao Joven Selección Rosado wine
Made with 100% ink Grenache grapes
Vineyards between 10 to 25 years old with clay-limestone, stony and silty soils.
The region has a continental climate, with winters of Atlantic influence, cold and windy, the wind that blows from the northeast is very common and is called Cierzo, during the summer it has Mediterranean influence, that is to say it has high temperatures.
The extreme temperatures and a wide thermal contrast, day-night, summer-winter, helps to achieve good acidity, a beautiful color and pleasant tannins in the wines. The low rainfall, an average of 350-450 mm favors the development of the vine.
