The Pagos de Familia Marqués de Griñón Winery
The Valdepusa Estate has been owned since 1292 by the family of Don Carlos Falcó, Marqués de Griñón, and is located in the municipality of Malpica de Tajo, Toledo. Dominio de Valdepusa is a unique wine estate covering 50 hectares, including the original 14 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1974. From 1991 onwards, this vineyard was progressively expanded to include the Syrah and Petit Verdot varieties—both pioneers in Spain—and Graciano.
Marqués de Griñón Private Collection Designation of Origin
In 2003, this designation was validated by the European Union, making Dominio Valdepusa the first Spanish estate to receive a recognition previously granted only to legendary vineyards such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (Burgundy) and Sassicaia (Tuscany). Its current production of 300,000 bottles, overseen by the prestigious Bordeaux winemaker Michel Rolland, focuses exclusively on red wines made from its own vineyards.
