The Baron de Ley winery
At Barón de Ley, the harvest is carried out manually not only in order to take maximum care of each bunch of grapes but also to put our greatest asset to good use: the vineyard. Obviously, having the grapes “at the winery” contributes very especially to the quality of the wines, by reducing the time the grapes enter the winery during the harvest to a minimum, thus avoiding unwanted fermentations during transport.
This great advantage has also allowed us to implement an ambitious manual grape selection policy over the years. For more than a decade, the grapes from our best estates have been harvested in 300-kilogram containers and transported to our two selection tables in the winery. There, each and every bunch is visually inspected, discarding those that are not in perfect condition, resulting in a “selection of the selection of our best estates”… grapes of the most extraordinary quality.
