The Baron de Ley winery

At Barón de Ley, the harvest is carried out manually not only in order to take maximum care of each bunch of grapes but also to enhance our greatest asset: the vineyard. Naturally, having the grapes “at the winery” contributes especially to the quality of the wines, by reducing to a minimum the time that the grapes enter the winery during the harvest, thus avoiding unwanted fermentations during transport.
This great advantage has also allowed us to implement an ambitious manual grape selection policy over the years. For more than a decade, the grape production from our best estates has been harvested in boxes with a capacity of 300 kilos and transported to our two selection tables in the winery. There, each and every one of the bunches is visually inspected, discarding those that are not in perfect condition, resulting in a “selection of the selection of our best estates” grapes of the most extraordinary quality.
