Sommos winery

The winery is committed to making easy-to-drink wines with a classic Somontano cut. This winery grows its own grapes with which it later makes its wines.
Its vineyards are located in the municipality of Adahuesca, at the foot of the Sierra de Guara. The Ballabriga family has cultivated their vineyards for generations.
This current winery is founded in 2000 by José Miguel Ballabriga, to create high quality wines.
This family winery has set itself the goal of recovering native varieties from Somontano, with flavors of the past.
One of its autochthonous grapes is Parraleta, and this winery is making an effort to recover this grape, which is very extinct today, but which provides excellent quality to its wines.In the same way, they are recovering the Alcañon grape, to make white wines The winery building is modern and functional, partially buried to facilitate aging in barrels. Located in the center of the Batrallo estate, surrounded by its vineyards.
They have stainless steel tanks and French and American oak barrels. The careful, almost individual selection of these barrels and their toasting is one of our main tasks to achieve unique wines.

From the DO Somontano the wines of this region are developed in areas with cold winters and hot summers. In spring and autumn sudden changes in temperature are frequent. The average annual temperature is 11 degrees Celsius.

Grape varieties used in Sommos Rosé 

Varieties: Syrah and Garnacha
A selection of plots of Syrah from Finca Torreselas and Garnachas
from the coolest area of ??Salas Altas make up this wine.
