The first documentary news on the history of the region dates back to the beginning of the 10th century, and they serve as an indicator to establish the two economic sources on which the territories under its influence were based, the mills for cereal transformation and the vineyards.
Nowadays, being already a Denomination of Origin, our objective is that the consumer appreciates in our wines the effort, care and dedication that we invest in them through a firm commitment to quality.

Main grape varieties in Tierra de Leon

Prieto Picudo: It is the red variety par excellence that represents this wine-growing area, occupies 69% of the vineyard area that is cultivated in the mention.
Albarin Blanco: White variety that represents 3% of the cultivated vineyard area. The bunches are small, and the grape is dark and well concentrated with a great aromatic expression.
Mencia: Red variety, occupies 4% of the vineyard area that is cultivated in the mention. It provides aromatic wines that, together with the Prieto Picudo variety, offers good results in interesting red wines.
