Located in the municipality of Otero, province of Toledo, it was acquired by González Byass in the year 2000. After a thorough study of soil characteristics and climate, the vineyard was planted with the national and international varieties of grapes that most They were adapted to the characteristics of the area. In February 2005, construction began on the new winery, which opened on May 23, 2006.
Finca Constancia was born with an avant-garde idea of ??winery and integrated vineyard, similar to the traditional Bordeaux concept of the châteaux. The spirit of Finca Constancia is reflected in the phrase of the founder of González Byass who, in a letter of June 6, 1836, stated: "I do not find business more beautiful than wines and I exclusively want to dedicate it".
The farm is bounded on the north by the Sierra de Gredos and south by the Montes de Toledo, in the basins of the Tajo and Alberche rivers. 90 kilometers from Madrid, the winery is located in a privileged place for the cultivation of the vine and with a very high potential to produce quality wines.
The terrain presents undulations and has an important variation in soil types and microclimates, differentiating 82 plots, in which precision viticulture is practiced and which provide extraordinary complexity in the wines. In general, they are deep soils with very good drainage, while retaining well the water in the subsoil. These differences range from moderately acidic to strongly alkaline soils, from low limestone to very limy. The textures are also varied: frank, frank-clayey-sandy, clay-loamy and argillaceous. They are all deep soils, with good percentages of organic matter and without any problem of salinity.
