The winery Lorenzo Cachazo
Bodegas y Viñedos Ángel Lorenzo Cachazo is located in the town of Pozaldez, province of Valladolid, and is part of the Denomination of Origin Rueda-the first D.O. of white wines from Spain and a great wine tradition.
It works since 1988 and its philosophy is based on the pillars of our family heritage and local tradition: the grandparents and great-grandparents of the family and took care of their vineyards to produce grapes with which they later elaborated the wines of the old "Land of Medina" , of long tradition and famous thanks to the old Fairs of Medina del Campo.
With the new facilities, it went from a more traditional elaboration to a more modern elaboration, without ever leaving aside the quality of the grapes harvested.
Denomination of origin of Lorenzo Cachazo
The denomination of origin Rueda, is located in the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Ávila.
It produces grapes, Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, Viura and Palomino fino.
It has 11700 hectares of vineyards and 55 wine producing wineries.
Its white wines are world famous, although red and rosé wines are also produced.
Variety of grapes used in the Lorenzo Cachazo wine
Variety of 50% Verdejo grapes and 50% Viura.
Its harvest is mechanical and it is done at night to avoid the oxidation of musts.
The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Pozaldez, Pozal de Gallinas and Rodilana and are brown lands rich in calcium and magnesium and stony, a fact that helps good aeration and drainage. The vineyards are 700 and 800 meters and are bathed by the Douro River. As for the weather, the winters are very cold and long, the springs are short and the summers are hot and dry. There is a great variation of temperatures between day and night, which promotes a good balance between sugar and the acidity of the grape.
