The winery Montecillo
The origin of Montecillo is found in Fuenmayor, one of the villages with the greatest viticultural tradition of the Rioja Alta. Surrounded by vineyards and very close to the waters of a serene and benefactory river, the majestic Ebro, the surroundings of Fuenmayor are framed by hillocks and, beyond, by the distinctive rocky mass of the Sierra de Cantabria.
More than 140 years after the foundation of our first winery in Fuenmayor, Bodegas Montecillo maintains a solid philosophy of respect for the vineyard, selection of the best grapes, consistent vinification, aging in high quality oak barrels and a refined in the calm of the underground drafts, where bottles of vintages are stored that go back to 1926, the same year of creation of the DOCa Rioja.
